Star Wars Rebels : Shoes
Star Wars Rebels shoes coming to a galaxy near you! Well actually sorry, not you, but one lucky little girl who happens to be a huge Star Wars fan. A family friend of mine had seen the Savage Oppress shoes I’d drawn for my younger brother and thought their daughter Jaime would absolutely love her own pair of unique Star Wars shoes. It was a couple of months ago I got the request and life seemed to just get in the way, but now they are finally done.
Before going into the design I was told Jaime’s favourite character was Yoda and that she loved the Rebels. I struggled for a long time trying to come up with a Yoda design so I decided to go with a rebel theme instead. The Rebel logo is simple and always looks great red with a black background. Now that’s not very unique on its own, hence the reason I decided to put some cool patterning on the sides.
It was actually a coincidence I drew these shoes around the same time as Star Wars Celebration Europe, where former supervising director of the Clone Wars, Dave Filoni, revealed information about a new upcoming animated series called Star Wars Rebels. From the information revealed, Rebels is shaping up to be a fantastic show. Something I found particularly fascinating is the important role Ralph Macquarie’s original concept art will play in the look a feel of the show. Starwars.com posted a story showcasing some the Macquarie inspired art for Rebels.
For those who haven’t yet heard of Rebels, here’s a brief description of the show, courtesy of Starwars.com.
The series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.
